What is the Promoting Healthy Development Survey (PHDS)?

The Promoting Healthy Development Survey (PHDS) is a survey for parents to complete about health care for young children (3 months - 3 years).

The PHDS has been used since 1998 by health systems and health care providers to assess the health care they provide to young children. Over 45,000 surveys have been completed by parents and used to improve the health care provided to young children.

The survey includes questions about health care services that are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

The PHDS was developed and is maintained by the Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative (CAHMI). The Commonwealth Fund funded the development of the PHDS.
